Where our journey began...
Established in 1969 in Ropley, Hampshire by my father, Richard “Dickie” Day, and my Uncle Russell Stride, Strides Haulage Ltd began operations with a single lorry, enhancing an existing agricultural business that specialized in lime and slag spreading. A venture initiated alongside my Grandfather, Ernie Stride.Throughout the years, the agricultural aspect of the business reduced while the haulage sector continued to expand, and yet despite facing economic challenges and downturns, my father remained committed to preserving the family business until his untimely passing in 2018.More than fifty-five years later, I, Robert Day, am honoured to uphold the legacy created by my forebears. Proudly following in the footsteps of family tradition, I work alongside my wife, Sarah, just as my parents did for many years.Now as the third generation and current Managing Director of Strides Haulage Ltd, I am proud to be a part of such a diverse industry and am lucky to have a hardworking dedicated team behind me.

We operate a fleet of Mercedes Actros tractor units/trucks which are Low Emission Zone compliant and equipped with cameras that comply with the latest DVS standards. Low Loader
Here we have our Low Loader, also known as a machinery mover which has been expertly designed by Dennison Trailers Ltd.This meticulously designed trailer measures 13.6 meters in length and features outriggers which enables us to cater for wider machinery. The long ramps create a gentle slope onto the trailer which are powered by hydraulics. The easy slope neck facilitates the efficient loading of machines, minimizing the slope for easier access to the upper deck. It is also outfitted with a robust Super winch, allowing for the recovery and transportation of inoperable machines.We have had the privileged of moving some incredible machines over the years and continue to work closely with businesses and independent bodies from all over the UK to ensure the timely and secure delivery of all vehicles.
Extendable trailer/Trombone
We are pleased to present our Extendable Trailer, also expertly designed by Dennison Trailers Ltd.This innovative engineering marvel can extend its length from 13.6 meters to 21.2 meters, distinguishing it from conventional trailers. This trailer offers exceptional versatility, specifically crafted for the transportation of long and irregularly shaped loads that cannot be accommodated by standard trailers.Our extendable trailer is utilized for moving items such as structural steel exceeding 15 meters, bridge beams, masts, and even industrial machinery.Extendable trailers are frequently referred to as a trombone due to its clever design, which resembles the extension mechanism of a trombone's arm.
Timber Haulage
In 2023 Strides Haulage Ltd branched out into the world of Timber Haulage. Purchasing our very own Robinson Skeletal trailer with timber bolsters. The trailer is complete with a Kesla 2010T Crane which is fitted with a weigh link.We are now fully established within the Forestry Industry working with various forestry businesses to extract and transport all different types of Roundwood for distribution to sawmills, farms and power plants in Hampshire and Nationwide.
